Oh, What Fun it is to Ride: The Return of Toboggan Hills

Residents that have previously enjoyed tobogganing in areas such as Sherwood Park and Sunnybrook Park were understandably discouraged with the city-wide arrival of “no tobogganing” signs in late 2023. Along with my constituents, I share the view that the City should embrace outdoor winter activities like tobogganing.

This month, I voted with City Council to permit tobogganing on designated hills in City parks. In response, City staff have been working to install new signage and replace the protective hay bales at select locations. While the unseasonably warm weather may not permit much tobogganing for the remainder of this winter, City staff will continue to monitor and maintain safety measures at designated toboggan locations.

Tobogganing is now permitted at the following parks in Ward 15:

  • Bennington Heights Park

  • Howard Talbot Park

  • Lawrence Park Ravine

  • Sherwood Park

  • Sunnybrook Park

  • Vyner Greenbelt
