Metrolinx Clears Major Restrictions at Yonge-Eglinton Intersection

Last month, Metrolinx reopened all crosswalks and removed all major restrictions at the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. After years of heavy construction, this change comes as a significant relief for the local community.

At this time, some nearby lane restrictions are still in place to remove temporary road decking, complete construction on water mains, and pave the roadway. By early this year, Metrolinx anticipates completion of remaining work on minor utility connections.

While the reopening of this critical intersection is a welcome update, I remain frustrated by the lack of a firm completion date for the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. Almost one year ago, City Council voted in favour of a motion calling for a third-party review of the ongoing delays and cost overruns. I will continue to support calls for increased transparency and a clear opening date for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
