Quick-Build Safety Improvements in Ward 15

In 2015, I introduced Toronto's first City-wide Road Safety Plan (RSP) as the newly-appointed Chair of Public Works and Infrastructure. I based this initiative on the international standard, Vision Zero, after meeting with road safety experts such as the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation.

Through Vision Zero, Transportation Services is completing Quick-Build Safety Improvements (QBSIs) across the city at high-priority locations with materials such as paint, signs, and plastic bollards. Often, QBSIs are implemented as a temporary improvement before permanent road reconstruction projects.

In Ward 15, the City will be installing left-turn calming at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Merton Street by reinforcing the median, which will encourage slower turning speeds and improve the visibility of pedestrians.

To report missing or damaged quick-build materials in your community, please create a service request through the 311 online portal
